Prevention and Intervention

Our Family Counsellor / Adult, Roddy Batson, as well as our Family Counsellor / Child & Youth, Elaine Ellis, offer crisis intervention and short term emotional support for individuals, couples and families. Office and home visits are available.

The purpose of this program is to assist clients in dealing with issues and situations they find personally challenging. Counselling gives people a chance to be heard without judgment by someone outside of their situation. Clients can also acquire knowledge and learn new skills with which they can find their own solutions to their situation. Assistance can be provided for a variety of issues such as deployment, relationships, parenting, youth and teen difficulties, stress, grief, loss, anxiety and self esteem.

Referrals are available for agencies and services in Brandon and/or for Base services such as medical, financial, Base Social Worker, Padre’s, school counsellor and food bank. Referrals can also be given for other Shilo MFRC services or for any MFRC in Canada.

Appointments can be booked Monday to Friday, during the day. Evening appointments are available by request.

The service is confidential and free.
